Dear Friend… (July 2021)

Summertime in Nome is always a special time, but this year there is hope in the air.

As vaccination rates in the region are high, and the number of coronavirus cases remain low in the state, locals are once again congregating with their friends and neighbors. It is a great sigh of relief to be in the community in-person again.

The sun is out, and fish are running. Summer festivals, camping trips, and subsistence activities provide great fun and full freezers. Those will keep friends and loved ones fed for a long time, both physically and emotionally.

Events like the annual solstice festival also provide opportunities for remote broadcasts in the community. In mid-July, KNOM will join the festivities, as the station turns 50 on July 14th.

Thank you for fueling the radio mission!
