The Nome City Council meets tonight to discuss changes to the way candidates run for municipal elections.

The proposed change would allow candidates to run “at-large”, meaning candidates would not have to run for a certain seat or against an individual candidate. Some councilmembers hope this change will increase participation in municipal elections.

The council also plans to pass a resolution in support of the local Asian American and Pacific Island community members.

Tonight’s regular meeting begins at 7pm at the Nome Council Chambers.
