Flying Debris Severs Power Line in Unalakleet Due to High, Gusting Winds

Yesterday, damaging high wind in Unalakleet sent debris flying into high voltage power lines, knocking out electricity for half of the village. After roughly nine hours, electricity was restored to the south side of town, thanks to the efforts of Unalakleet Valley Electric Cooperative (UVEC) workers.

The first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have officially arrived in Nome. The vaccine touched down at approximately 1:30pm today on the Alaska Airlines flight from Anchorage.
Nome Bars To Stay Closed, Common Council Devises Service Worker Relief Plan

Nome’s bars will remain closed for the holidays. That’s following a 5-1 vote by the Nome Common Council on Monday. Restaurants are expected to remain closed until next Monday, along with a restriction on public gatherings of over ten people.
