‘Name That Tune’ Returns

‘Name That Tune’ is a half-hour long radio show featuring Alaska Native music. Listeners are encouraged to call with any information they may have about the recording. Where did it originate? Who composed it? How do you pronounce the name of the song? What story does it tell?

Over the years, many of KNOM’s recordings from dance festivals and potlucks around Western Alaska were either not cataloged, or the information lost. ‘Name That Tune’ returns to the airwaves to help archive these precious pieces for the benefit of listeners in Western Alaska.

The show is part of an hour-long block highlighting indigenous knowledge, immediately following “Elder Voices” on Wednesdays.
