Rescue Teams Save Stebbins Man Stranded at Sea

Search teams successfully rescued a man stuck in a boat offshore from Stebbins on Saturday (6/16).

According to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch, 22-year-old Cody Nick of Stebbins began calling troopers Friday evening, saying he could not make land because of ocean conditions.

The hazardous conditions prevented local searchers from launching boats immediately. On Saturday, the United States Coast Guard, Alaska Air Guard, Alaska State Troopers and local searchers expanded efforts to find Nick.

According to the dispatch, around 4 p.m. that afternoon, Nick was located on the coastline about 10 miles south of Stebbins. The Coast Guard was able to rescue Nick, who was found alive with only minor injuries.
