The Nome Joint Utility System Board passed one resolution at last night’s board meeting.

Resolution 17-09 signifies that the NJUS board has reviewed and approved the Financial Audit Report from auditing firm BDO, for the year ending on December 31st, 2016.

Joy Merriner, a Certified Public Accountant with BDO, presented the audit findings to the board, stating “we finalized the audit, issued an unmodified opinion – so a clean opinion on the statement – which is the one you want to see.”

Likewise, no findings were reported, nor were any material weaknesses or significant deficiencies identified.

In other news, Utility Manager John Handeland reported that the 2017 fuel note bid by Northrim Bank was successfully closed late last week.

The next NJUS board meeting will take place on August 17th at 7:30pm.
