Elder Voices: Dina Sagoonick

Dina Sagoonick is featured in this week’s installment of Elder Voices, from 2012. Dina was raised with her extended family in Shaktoolik. She remembers helping her family from an early age, with tasks such as gardening. “The whole family had to help, even the children,” she says.

Dina recalls being especially thankful that she grew up around dogs. Her family used dog sleds to get around, but the dogs were also valued for their companionship.

Want to hear more about Dina’s childhood, and about her adult life? Elder Voices airs Wednesday, May 10th, at 11am and 6pm. Elder Voices: a window to the past, a door to the future.
