Tonight, four Nome police officers and one community service officer will take the oath of office during the last Nome City Council meeting in March.
Other business on the Council’s agenda includes an ordinance to replace all existing tariffs for the Port of Nome and adopt Tariff #13, which involves slightly increasing port security fees for qualifying vessels and rate changes for dry-docked vessels. If the ordinance passes, vessels over 32 feet in length will be charged $787 or more for the winter and $630 or more for the summer.
Being presented to the Council for the first time this month is an ordinance to amend the City code on sales tax, a resolution awarding the bids for surplus vehicles, and a resolution rescinding one taxi cab license from EZ Enterprises and one from Nome Checker Cab.
Before tonight’s regular 7pm meeting, the Disability Abuse Response Team (DART) will give a presentation about their organization starting at 6:30pm.
