Elder Voices: Susan Campbell

St. Lawrence Island, AK
A view of St. Lawrence Island from the flight into Gambell.

Susan Campbell was born in Gambell in 1934. During a 2002 Elder Voices interview with KNOM, Susan remembers her childhood on St. Lawrence Island.

She details picking greens and berries while camping in the country; her first time away from her family when she went to school; and trapping with her family all over St. Lawrence Island.

Join KNOM every Wednesday at 11am and again at 6pm, for a rebroadcast of the beloved series Elder Voices: sharing the stories and history of western Alaska.
