A man traveling by snowmachine from Elim to Koyuk went missing in blizzard conditions last Thursday.
According to the Alaska State Troopers, Roger Hannon, 22 from Koyuk, was riding with a partner between the two villages when they got separated due to poor visibility. Hannon was last seen on the sea ice east of Elim.
People from Koyuk and Elim searched the area between the two villages, but the search was put on hold on Sunday due to weather. Searchers were able to locate Hannon’s snowmachine in open water at the ice edge about two and a half miles east of Elim.
According to the Trooper dispatch, the search is set to resume Monday morning.
