KNOM Exchange: Medicaid Reform for Seniors and Those Living with Disabilities

Providing care to those in need is a perennial issue for rural Alaska. On Thursday’s episode of KNOM’s Exchange, we talked about the potential Medicaid reforms that are seeking more funding for the support of elders and those with disabilities to age and thrive in their own communities.

We were joined in the studio by our guest Duane Mayes, director of senior and disability services for the State of Alaska’s Department of Health and Social Services.

We invited our listeners to think about the following questions for the program:

  • Are you a senior citizen or someone living with a disability?
  • Does anyone in your family or village fall into these categories?
  • What do you think about the current state of services offered for the elderly and those with disabilities in your community?
