KNOM Exchange: Fitness & Nutrition

The Exchange for December 10th is over. Sustaining the healthy habits of staying active and eating right were the focus of this episode.

Thank you to our guest, Megan Timm from the CAMP Department, for sharing such a great perspective on living a healthy life and different strategies to improve daily habits. Megan’s advice made the goal of exercise and eating right seem much more attainable. Listeners also heard clips from an interview with Valerie Fuller, a physical therapist from the Norton, who spoke of the importance of exercise and what older adults should take into consideration as they keep up their active lifestyles.

Our callers, Marjorie in Nome and Roger in White Mountain, had wonderful advice concerning nutrition and the importance of staying fit. Marjorie spoke about the importance of traditional games from this region. These games teach subsistence skills and help keep those participating physically fit. Marjorie also spoke to the importance of eating food from this region and where to find recipes that incorporate local food. Roger shared his perspective of the importance of walking, taking a break from TV, and eating leafy greens.

Staying fit and eating healthy are things we all should be doing, but it can be hard for many of us to incorporate exercise and a balanced diet into our lives.

This week on KNOM Exchange, we are talking about nutrition and fitness. Join us this Thursday and tell us how you stay healthy or share any questions you may have, such as:

  • What do you do to stay active?
  • Why do you exercise, and how does it affect you?
  • What is your favorite nutritious dish to cook?
  • Do you go anywhere to stay fit, or do you workout in your home?

We want to hear your perspective and questions concerning nutrition and fitness in our region. Tune in this Thursday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m. — or leave a comment now to be read on the air.
