On May 15, 2011, on a hunting trip about 50 miles outside of Nome, Wesley Perkins was attacked by a grizzly bear. Two years and 26 reconstructive surgeries later, Perkins has regained his voice. He’s using it in part to advocate for the amateur radio culture that helped save his life.
