Alaska Community Action on Toxics was in Nome on Monday with retired Marine Corps Master Sergeant, Jerry Ensminger, to talk about how military toxins are affecting local communities. Ensminger has been working for sixteen years to hold the military accountable for polluting the environment. These military toxins are linked with cancer and other illnesses around the country.
That’s the reason ACAT brought him to Western Alaska. Vi Waghiyi is ACAT’s Environmental Health and Justice Program Director. She says ACAT wants to share Jerry’s story and his struggle and discuss what’s going on close to home.
