Winter Memories

Spring is upon us. It’s not the springtime that you typically see in the Lower 48, but it’s very unique! Within this past month, the streets in Nome are visible. The last time I saw the road, dirt, or mud was back in October before the first snowfall. It’s such a treat.

Recently, all of the KNOM volunteers went to dinner together. With the sun high in the sky just about into the midnight hour, it was bright and cheerful. The road was clear and there were puddles. We couldn’t contain our excitement, so we started skipping down the middle of the road (until a car came, of course). It was exhilarating to be outside with warm temperatures, bright light, and firm ground under our feet. A simple pleasure, but a memory I will always have.

As I reminisce about the winter that has already passed, here are some photo memories of our winter in Nome.
