Ulsom’s prediction: “it’s going to be a race”

With Nome just 77 miles away, Iditarod 2013’s top rookie is eager to bring it on home.

“I’m very excited,” Norway’s Joar Leifseth Ulsom says. “I had so much fun in this race.”

For Ulsom, the final stretch of the trail may present its own challenges, especially with fellow mushers Nicolas Petit and Jake Berkowitz just minutes removed from Ulsom pulling in to White Mountain this morning.

With KNOM’s Laureli Kinneen, Ulsom predicted: “it’s going to be a race.”

Joar Leifseth Ulsom arrived into White Mountain at 9:17 Tuesday morning with 10 dogs. After his mandatory, 8-hour layover, he will be eligible to depart at 5:17pm tonight.
