As you probably can tell from many recent volunteer blogs, we are in reflection time. It’s about halfway through our year volunteering at KNOM, which I think is a natural point to review where we’ve been and where we see ourselves going, both here in Nome as well as in the years to come. Quite a few of us, including myself, have taken a look back in our journals to feel grounded.
Moving to a new place, starting a new job and living with complete strangers comes with many gifts and challenges. I knew it wasn’t going to all be smooth sailing when I chose to come, but God has blessed me with unique and beautiful roommates and a welcoming community.
I was browsing through notes that I’ve jotted down over the past six months, and I stumbled on some prayers I had written. I’d like to share a sampling with you. These were certainly key for me as I transitioned to KNOM and throughout my learning experiences here. How does your prayer life or meditation help you with reflection?
Lord, you are stretching me.
I long to understand your purpose for me each day,
and I am constantly looking for your will.
Help me to hush and listen to the answers to my questions.
Help me release control and allow you to take my hand and lead the way.
I trust in you!
