Kotzebue's John Baker, your 2011 Iditarod champion.
A large crowd turned out on Nome's Front Street to greet John Baker, the 2011 Iditarod champion.
Baker's dogs took a detour on their jog to the finish line, darting briefly to the left on Front Street.

John Baker on the frozen Bering Sea: the very last segment of the Iditarod Trail before Nome's Front Street and the finish line.
Trail reporter Laureli Kinneen reports on John Baker's championship win, live from under the Burled Arch in Nome.

Nome resident and Iditarod volunteer Leo Rasmussen holds Baker's sign-in sheet and mail packet.
The official sign-in sheet for the Nome checkpoint (the end of the Iditarod race), plus the "mail" carried in John Baker's sled (each musher carries a packet of envelopes on the trail, symbolic of dog mushing's heritage as, among other things, a means of carrying mail).
