Laura was born and raised in Tidewater Virginia. She graduated from Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia with a degree in photography and digital imaging. She initially moved to Nome in 2007 to volunteer for KNOM and stayed on for two years as Music Director. She joined the full-time staff in 2011 as Outreach Coordinator and then Program Director in 2015. In 2017, Laura departed work at the station to hone her skills elsewhere in Nome, working in program development and communications.
Laura is happy to support the teamwork at KNOM, through online communications and on the air. When not at work, Laura enjoys adventuring outdoors with her husband and two sons and loves playing music and singing as the upright bassist in Nome’s old time stringband Landbridge Tollbooth.
