Volunteer Gabe Colombo, just back from a reporting trip in Unalakleet, shares his story of how the remote community is using renewable energy — especially wind power and solar panels — to reduce their astronomical energy costs.
Unalakleet Cooperative Works to Restore Power to Residents After Break in Electrical Line

According to Unalakleet’s Valley Electric Cooperative (UVEC) general manager Reese Huhta, around 9:45 Friday morning, the Cooperative became aware of a break at the wind farm. Technicians attempted to perform a bypass on the line, which was unsuccessful. A line technician is being flown in from Golovin to conduct a repair.
