A multi-media theatrical production that recently toured Alaska and off-Broadway in New York City brought Alaska Native culture, and cross-cultural encounters in the state from a variety of perspectives, to a broader audience. This collaborative, story-rich, conversation-sparking production was the focus of a recent episode of KNOM’s “Story49.”

Canadian Anniversary Voyage Engages Alaskans, Too

A Canadian expedition celebrating the 150th anniversary of the country’s nationhood stopped in Nome last weekend. Canada C3, as it’s called, is traveling by ship around the northern coast from Toronto to Victoria, British Columbia.

The kayak program, which ended two weeks ago in Nome, started several years ago with the intent of making a Greenlandic kayak. And as students learned to make a traditional kayak, the construction process required them to think about determining shipping costs, pricing out materials, and entrepreneurship basics.
