RAHI Graduates Celebrate Six Weeks of College Prep in Fairbanks

The University of Alaska Fairbanks’ Rural Alaska Honors Institute (RAHI) wrapped up its 2025 session mid July with a graduation at the Troth Yeddha’ campus. Over six weeks, 42 students from 32 rural communities earned up to 10 college credits while experiencing life on campus—dorm living, shared meals, and packed class schedules. Participants included Luke Kokeok of Shishmaref, Donald Olson of Golovin, Neva Horton, and Kivé Shannon of Nome.

Beyond academics, RAHI students built connections through cultural activities and outdoor adventures like canoeing the Chena River, rafting at Denali, and community service for elders. At graduation, staff and UAF leaders praised the group’s hard work and resilience.
