Richard and Debbie Atuk on Iñupiaq preservation

Richard Atuk and Debbie Atuk, father and daughter, are on a mission to revive Iñupiaq culture through language learning.

In the interview below, they explain that Iñupiaq is more than a language — it is a way of life. Iñupiaq speech is holistic, community-based and telling of cultural values. Through advocating for language preservation and education, they hope people will be reconnected with their heritage and carry on Iñupiaq culture.
