Dearest Alaska: Traditional Making Of Kuspuks

In the premiere episode of Dearest Alaska, we are off to Wales to hear about the tradition of making Kuspuks.

Listen to Beth as she teaches students in Wales the traditional Yup’ik style of ripping fabric to compose a Kuspuks. The process of coming together to learn how to make this traditional piece of clothing is as much about the act of communion as it is about the final product.

Dearest Alaska is a new audio project; the program will be available on this website and broadcast live on the first Saturday and Sunday of every month at 12noon and 5pm on KNOM (96.1 FM, 780 AM).
