It’s the seventh time Bethel’s Pete Kaiser has driven a dog team in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
He’s finished in the top 15 the last five years in a row. Kaiser also recently won the Kuskowkim 300. Still, in Willow, he was measured about his chances for winning the 2016 Iditarod. His dogs are looking promising, but nonetheless, “everything has to come together just right,” he said, for a Kaiser victory in this year’s race. For now, “the big goal is to make it to Nikolai safely… I’d just like to get there in one piece.”
