Johnson Leads Culley in First Count of City Council Runoff

Nome, AK — Unofficial results from the November 1st Nome Municipal Runoff Election were announced last night. Mark Johnson appears to have an overwhelming majority, taking 69.92% of the vote for “Seat F” on the Nome Common Council.

Nome City Clerk Bryant Hammond says a total of 482 votes were submitted out of the 2,499 registered Nome voters.

Despite six questioned ballots, unofficial counts show Mark Johnson with 337 votes over Matt Culley, who received 145 votes (30.08%).

These results are unofficial until the the Nome City Council canvasses results tomorrow, Thursday, November 3rd. The special session will be held in the Richard Foster Building starting at 12 o’clock noon.
