Nome City Council to Vote on New City Manager’s Contract

Glenn Steckman will become Nome’s new City Manager if the Common Council approves his contract through resolution during their regular meeting tonight.

According to his contract, Steckman will have a $140,000 salary with the possibility for a raise after a one-year performance review and $10,000 for moving expenses, as Mr. Steckman will be moving to Nome from Pennsylvania. The contract is for three years, beginning on November 11th of this year. If Mr. Steckman wishes to end his contract earlier, he must give the City a notice of sixty days.

The potential hire of Glenn Steckman comes over a year after Nome’s previous City Manager, Tom Moran resigned. John Handeland of Nome has been serving as interim City Manager since that time.

It is otherwise a slim agenda before the City Council, with the no unfinished business to be discussed and only one other resolution. The Council meets at 7pm in City Hall tonight.
