The spot series “Love Letters to Home”, which has been broadcast this late summer and fall, is now completed.
The last two spots in the series both feature youth from the Bering Strait region.
In one, Nome’s Katie Smith takes the opportunity to thank her town for building community spirit around her generation. She thanks her teachers and parents for challenging her and helping her reach her potential in life.
In the final installment, Tyler Lincoln of White Mountain shares two haiku poems: one about the serenity of life along the Fish River and one about the new reality of college, of making new friends and getting assignments done on time. Lincoln is now a first-year student at the University of Alaska Southeast in Juneau.
The series is a collaborative effort between the Rural Alaska Honors Institute and KNOM.
