The sun is emerging from behind the clouds and light snow is falling as Nome prepares for one of its most fast-paced days of the year: the Nome-Golovin Snowmachine Race. Somehow, this race always seems to happen on a clear, crisp winter day, and 2013 appears to be no exception.
On this blog, we’re taking a pause from our coverage of Iditarod 2013 to bring you the latest on this year’s Nome-Golovin, a 190-mile roundtrip from Nome to the Seward Peninsula community of Golovin, Alaska and back again.
Stay tuned in the coming hours for a live blog of the latest in this very fast-paced race, photos, and, later today, race results, which we’ll post as soon as we have them.
If you’re in Western Alaska, join us on 96.1 FM or 780 AM; our coverage – from the start/finish line, the spotter vehicle on the outskirts of Nome, and KNOM studios – begins at 12noon!
Stay tuned.
