Unalakleet Elementary School’s fifth grade class is growing salmon. Melissa Towarak’s class is participating in a 4H classroom incubation project, which brings fish eggs and refrigerated tanks into Alaskan schools to help kids learn about the anatomy and life cycle of salmon.
The Unalakleet students kicked off their yearlong incubation project last Friday with a field trip to the North River, where they watched NSEDC biologists take eggs for their class project.
Listen to hear from NSEDC biologist Charlie Lean and the Unalakleet fifth-graders about the field trip, egg-takes and the life cycle of salmon.
