As you read this, the region we serve – sub-Arctic Alaska – is experiencing the apex of its long, summer sunshine. Although the sun does dip below the horizon, our skies remain bright 24 hours a day – and will remain bright throughout the month of July.
In the “land of the midnight sun,” KNOM’s listeners cherish this short, bright season. It’s a busy time; many in our region will spend the endless sunshine camping or fishing, tuned in to KNOM’s far-reaching AM signal in their cars or with battery-powered radios. They’ll do so under skies like the one pictured – photographed in Nome just past midnight.
