Nome-Beltz will have a dean of students — Douglas Bushey — in place of the assistant principal this fall.
Bushey was born and raised in Valdez. He’s worked in Wasilla, Bethel, and Clarks Point, and served as the principal at Shugnak for the past year. Bushey says his background in school safety directs his approach to creating a good school environment.
