Two more mushers have scratched from Iditarod 38; both are veterans of the race.
Linwood Fiedler scratched at the McGrath checkpoint at 8:24am Thursday morning. Fiedler had 11 dogs and, according to Iditarod headquarters, “made the decision based on the best interest of his team.”
Karen Ramstead also scratched in McGrath, at 8pm Thursday night. Ramstead left the race “for personal reasons,” according to Iditarod headquarters; her team had 14 dogs.
