In Nikolai: Mitch Seavey

Mitch Seavey was doing better than he’d expected when he arrived in Nikolai on Tuesday morning, but as he told our race reporter Laureli, he still had “chores to do.”

The elder Seavey – a former Iditarod champ – shared his thoughts on his team’s potential for this year’s race, as well as what it’s like to share the trail with his son, Dallas:

Just before midnight Tuesday, Mitch Seavey pulled into the Takotna checkpoint in second position.
