The Iditarod depends on countless volunteers, many of them from outside Alaska (and even the United States). They give of their time, their money, and their energy to help make the race happen.
Our race reporter Laureli was in the Nikolai checkpoint on Monday afternoon and got to meet two such devoted volunteers: Suzanne and N.J. They talked about their love for the race, their fascination with the Alaskan Bush, and their day-to-day work with the Iditarod:
