Fall in Nome is in full swing, and wow – we have been so blessed in so many ways. We’ve had some beautiful weather this year, and even more exciting, we heard the amazing news that Fr. Alphonsus has been released. What a joyful day that was! Those of us at KNOM who know him felt such relief and gratitude when we heard. At the same time, things are pretty uncertain in the world of public media right now. With major funding cuts ahead, a lot of stations are facing tough choices. Thanks to your generosity, KNOM isn’t feeling those impacts immediately, and that’s something we don’t take for granted for a single second.
That doesn’t mean things are easy, though. We’re working hard every day to bring the very best news and programming to Western Alaska. For many of our listeners, that means weather reports that are literally life-saving – especially in places where internet and cell services don’t reach or are unreliable.
I have faith that with your support and our shared commitment to this mission we’ll keep bringing faith, news, inspiration, and friendship to the people who count on us every time they turn on the radio for many years to come.
With love and so much gratitude,
Miranda
