NOAA Weather Radio down for northern Alaska

The National Weather Service's Fairbanks office announced Tuesday afternoon that its Weather Radio product was down. When reached by phone, an official with the service said it is not known when the service will be back online.

The National Weather Service said forecasts from the office are still available through other means, including those provided directly to air traffic controllers and airlines.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Weather Radio product continuously broadcasts weather information. It is also used to share emergency updates when needed.
