Preliminary results for his year’s local elections for Nome are in. Only one seat, for the Nome Common Council, had more than one person on the ballot sheet. A total of 359 ballots were cast, just 14% of the total number of registered voters in Nome.
Seat C on the Nome Common Council was won by Kohren Green by a preliminary count of 255-97. The Sitnasuak Native Corporation employee earned the majority of his votes from the more populous precinct #2 of Nome.
All other seats were contested only by write-in names.
Scot Henderson was reelected to Seat D of the Nome Common Council just one week after his former opponent, Rexodus Pomrenke, was disqualified from the ballot.
Derek McLarty and David Barron won seats on the NJUS Utility Board. For the Nome Public Schools Board, Nancy Mendenhall and Jon Gregg won their seats.
The Common Council will hold a special meeting Thursday, October 3 at 5:30 p.m. to certify the results of the election.
