The Nome Joint Utility System (NJUS) has announced that water services will be turned off for parts of the city starting at 1 p.m. until approximately 5 p.m. Wednesday, September 25. The affected areas include the Sunshine Subdivision, Martinsonville, and Icy View neighborhoods.
According to NJUS, the outage is part of planned maintenance. The water supply could remain off past 5 p.m. if additional work is needed.
NJUS encourages residents to take precautions ahead of the outage. Homeowners should turn off circulating pumps to prevent damage during the shutoff. Additionally, NJUS advises residents to conserve drinking water in advance and to limit toilet flushing during the disruption.
