The City of Nome has announced that the candidate filing period for the 2024 Municipal Election is now open. Individuals interested in running for local office can begin filing their candidacy starting August 2, 2024. The deadline to submit filings is August 27, 2024.
Seats available in this election include two City Council positions, two Nome Joint Utility System board seats, and one Nome Public Schools board seat.
The City Council seats held by Scot Henderson and Sigvanna Tapqaq are up for election. Those elected to a seat will serve a three year term.
Residents interested in running for office can contact the City Clerk at City Hall by calling 907-443-6663 to obtain the necessary filing forms.
The municipal election will take place on October 1, 2024.
