Alaska State Troopers have arrested a Saint Michael man on multiple charges in an assault captured on video and shared on social media.
According to an online trooper dispatch, troopers learned of the incident at about 7 p.m. Wednesday. Several concerned citizens reported viewing a Facebook Live video showing a violent assault taking place at a residence in the western Alaska community.
According to the dispatch, a trooper who was in Saint Michael at the time arrived at the residence. Curtis R. Tom, 32, was arrested, troopers said, “for strangling a woman and placing her in fear of death by means of a dangerous instrument.”
A screenshot reportedly taken from the Facebook Live and obtained by KNOM appears to show a man pinning someone to the floor inside a home.
Tom faces four counts of third-degree assault in the case. He was held at the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center in Nome.
Charging documents against Tom weren’t immediately available Thursday morning.
Troopers say the investigation is ongoing.
