Troopers investigating homicide in Mountain Village

Alaska State Troopers are investigating a homicide at a residence in Mountain Village.

Law enforcement was notified March 24 at 1:54 p.m., according to a Trooper dispatch. Troopers arrived from St. Mary’s post, about 25 miles away.

A Tribal Police officer in Mountain Village contacted Troopers to report a homicide had occurred at a residence and a suspect was in custody.

An investigation discovered Larry Andrews — age 35 of St. Mary’s — deceased with multiple gunshot wounds to his body, according to Troopers. Further investigation led to the arrest of Darren Peterson, age 34, of Mountain Village.

On March 25, Peterson was arraigned in Bethel on charges of Murder 1, Murder 2, Misconduct Involving Weapons 3, Misconduct Involving Weapons 4, and Assault 3.

The investigation is ongoing.
