Alaska State Troopers (AST) and the Nome Police Department (NPD) have seen their fair share of cabin crime for the month of September. Multiple incidents of break-ins, burglaries, and vandalism have been reported in the Norton Sound region, but details are scarce.
AST received a report of two seasonal cabins being burglarized on the Niukluk River between the village of White Mountain and Council on September 5th. The cabins were broken into and multiple firearms were reported stolen. AST reports they believe multiple suspects were involved in this break-in.
In an updated dispatch report on Tuesday [September 22nd], AST stated that they had made two arrests in White Mountain related to this incident; the arrests were made on Friday, September 18th. Clyde Douglas and Julius Ione have been remanded to Anvil Mountain Correctional Center. Troopers report that there are multiple suspects that have not been arrested, among them are Trevor Green and two juveniles.
Felicia Larsen, one of the suspects, was also the focus of a recent Nome Police post on social media. On Tuesday, NPD reported that Larsen had been arrested. She is being charged with arson and failure to follow conditions of release. Larsen in the only known connection between both incidents.
KNOM will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
