AMCC Inmates Gang-Up on Other Inmate, Assault Charges Filed

A fight over the weekend between inmates at the Anvil Mountain Correctional Center resulted in assault charges for six inmates. Charging documents describe the fight as a “gang-style” assault.

The altercation broke out on Saturday night at approximately 5:30pm but correctional facility staff were able to disperse the situation. Alaska State Troopers were notified the following morning after 10am and using video-surveillance, identified the assailants and assigned charges.

AST Sergeant James Thomas responded and said that it’s believed to be a gang-related incident involving members of the Native Brotherhood. But, right now the origins of the fight are unknown.

Charging documents show a verbal altercation between 22-year-old Lennie Lane and another inmate. After the inmate retreated to his cell, Lane and four others approached the cell from opposite sides. In the video, documents say that Lane and one of the other assailants, 31-year-old Patrick Tickett, can be observed using a mop-handle as a weapon.

The six assailants have been charged with varying levels of assault and had their preliminary hearing on Monday. The charges were brought against Lane, Tickett, 32-year-old Emmanuel Adams, 24-year-old Thomas Asila, 25-year-old Joshua Jemewouk, and 34-year-old Benjamin Daniel.
