This week, Elder Voices features a conversation with Winton Weyapuk, Jr. Winton was interviewed in 2013 in Wales, where he was born and raised.
Growing up, Winton learned to respect his elders. He recalls helping them with chores and listening to them tell captivating (and sometimes scary!) stories. Now, as an elder himself, Winton shares what he knows about subsistence hunting, the Inupiaq language, and the unpredictable weather of Western Alaska.
Listen to more of Winton’s story by tuning in to KNOM this Wednesday, April 26th, at 11am and 6pm. Elder Voices: a window to the past, a door to the future.
