The Nome Port Commission approved changes to the Middle Dock extension project at last night’s meeting. The company completing the project is Orion Marine Contractors. They requested an additional 237 days and over $250,000 so that they can extend the Middle Dock ramp by 19 feet.
The Commission unanimously approved their request. Port Director Joy Baker said that the additional work won’t interfere much with port activities.
“The only thing it’ll do is take the ramp out of service until the concrete cures,” she said, “but they’ll still be able to use the dock to the south of the ramp.”
Last night, the Commission also agreed on revisions to this year’s tariff. There will be no tariff rate increase for the 2017 season. The version of the tariff approved at the meeting will go before the City Council on February 27th.
The Port Commission meets again on March 23rd.
