Port Commission Prepares for Arctic Chinook Drill

The Nome Port Commission meets tonight to hear final updates on the Arctic Chinook training exercise from City Manager Tom Moran. The exercise is a joint effort between the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Northern Command to practice for an Arctic Mass Rescue Operation (MRO).

Mayor Richard Beneville will attend the live drill in Kotzebue on August 23rd. The next day, Nome will host its own tabletop drill at the Public Safety Building.

The Port Commission will also prioritize its list of pending port and harbor projects tonight. It meets at City Hall at 5:30 p.m.
