KNOM Exchange: Social-Emotional Learning

The Exchange for April 28th is over. Richard and Sarah in Nome and Mark in Stebbins called into the show and shared their thoughts on how to incorporate social-emotional learning into our schools and communities. Jane in Nome also submitted comments and insights online.

Thank you to Kaley Slingsby with Nome Public Schools for joining us in-studio to discuss the topic of social-emotional learning.

On this episode of exchange, we talked about social-emotional learning. Nome Public Schools and the Bering Strait School District are working to incorporate social-emotional learning into the day-to-day student curriculum. Kaley Slingsby with Nome Public Schools joined us in the studio to share and explain the initiative behind incorporating social-emotional learning into our schools.

  • What do you want to understand about social-emotional learning curricula?
  • Do you have ideas on how we can help students learn and practice these skills?
  • How does your child learn best?
  • In what ways would you like to be involved in implementing this programming in school or at home?

Share your thoughts on how we can support students — and your comments and questions on social-emotional learning in our classrooms and in our communities.
