Photos: “Home to Nome!” Stewart and Jamgochian Finish Iditarod

In the past 24 hours, Nome has welcomed two of its own under the Burled Arch. Finishing in 49th and 57th place, respectively, were Melissa Owens Stewart and rookie Tom Jamgochian.

Stewart pulled in with 9 dogs at 6:29pm Thursday evening, finishing with a time of 11 days, 3 hours, 29 minutes. In her previous completed Iditarod, in 2008, she finished in 30th place, with a time of 10 days, 20 hours, 21 minutes. (She entered, but ultimately scratched, from both the 2009 and 2011 races.)

Nome rookie musher Tom Jamgochian pulled under the Burled Arch in the wee hours of Friday morning, finishing in 57th place with 9 dogs, logging a final time of 11 days, 11 hours, 45 minutes.
