The 2016 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race may be over for most mushers, but their work is far from done. A parking lot a stone’s throw away from the Burled Arch still bustles with activity as vets, handlers, and mushers care for the dogs of this year’s Last Great Race. KNOM’s Mitch Borden visited the official dog lot and recorded the voices and the sounds of this important part of the Iditarod.
Dog care is always an important aspect of any musher’s routine, but especially after finishing a long race such as the Iditarod. In this audio postcard, you’ll hear just how quiet dogs can be after running The Last Great Race.
